It starts at Shenandoah, Virginia, and ends at the eastern entrance of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park near Maggie Valley, North Carolina.  This link takes you on a mile-by-mile review of the Parkway, tells of scenery, ranger stations, food, on-Parkway attractions, etc. along its many miles. It's loaded with useful information for the traveller, and is a must if you plan to do it all. Remember, there are no service stations on the Parkway, so keep an eye on your gas tank.
